Introduction to Legacy Aquatics & Reptiles
The Beginning & Our Journey
Our story began in 1991, when Rebecca’s parents, David and Josie purchased the Mt Roskill store and laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong passion and family business. Rebecca grew up alongside the store, helping after school, on weekends, and throughout school holidays. In 1999, Rebecca joined the business full time, working alongside her parents and developing a deep connection with both the store and its customers.
In 2001, Adrian joined the team, working alongside Rebecca, David, and Josie at the Mt Roskill location. As the business continued to grow, a second store was opened in Albany in 2003, with Rebecca and Adrian stepping into leadership roles to manage the new location.
In 2009, Rebecca and Adrian proudly took ownership of the business, continuing the legacy that David and Josie had built.
Since then, the business has expanded significantly, including the launch of our online store and the opening of additional locations in Hamilton and East Tamaki. Despite this growth, Adrian and Rebecca remain deeply involved in the day-to-day operations — Rebecca working closely with customers in-store, and Adrian managing logistics, deliveries, and online operations.

For over 20 years, this business has been our life’s work. It has never just been about aquariums or reptiles — it has always been about people, community, and sharing our passion with others.
We are incredibly grateful for the loyal customers who have supported us over the years.
Many of you have grown alongside us, and we are proud of the friendships and connections that have been built along the way.
Our team has also played a huge role in shaping who we are today. Their dedication, knowledge, and genuine care for our customers and animals is what makes this business truly special.
While our name is changing, everything that matters most remains the same — the same owners, the same team, and the same commitment to providing the best service and experience possible.
Why We Are Rebranding
After more than two decades of ownership and growth, we felt it was time for a name that reflects who we are today and where we are heading.
The name Legacy Aquatics and Reptiles represents the journey we have taken, the foundation built by David and Josie, and the future Adrian and Rebecca are continuing to build. It reflects our long-term commitment to the industry, our customers, and the community we are proud to be part of.
This rebrand allows us to grow, evolve, and continue building something that will last for generations to come.
